Mary L. Dean, 96
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Mary Laurie Dean, 96, of 80 Lincoln St., died Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at North Adams Commons.
Born in Mansonville, Quebec, on Aug. 9, 1914, daughter of Emile and Regina Mandeville Theroux, she attended schools in Canada. She also lived in Claremont, N.H., and came to North Adams as a teenager.
Mrs. Dean worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 39 years until her retirement in 1981.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Her husband, Clarence A. Dean, whom she married on Oct. 24, 1936, died on June 19, 1977.
Survivors include a daughter, Constance A. Garvie of North Adams; a son, Ronald J. Dean and his wife, Mary Ellen, of North Adams; nine grandchildren, Scott Garvie and his wife, Sandi, of Clarksburg, Lori Garvie of Williamstown, James Garvie and his wife, Doreen, of North Pownal, Vt., Lisa Garvie, Wayne T. Garvie and Thomas E. Dean and his wife, Brandi, all of North Adams, Leslie Piazani and her husband, Mark, of Adams, Jill M. Dean of Boston, and Elizabeth A. Fox and her husband, Andrew, of Waterford, N.Y.; 10 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Wayne Garvie, in 2005. Eleven brothers and sisters are also deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mrs. Dean will be Friday, June 24, at 9:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Please omit flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
