Timothy Chapin

Timothy Michael Chapin, 54, of 14 Orchard St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after suffering a heart attack at home. Born in Adams on April 7, 1947, son of Harold L. Chapin and Eva A. Crowell Chapin, he was a 1968 graduate of the former Adams High School. He served in the Air Force with an intercontinental ballistic missile site unit in Knob Noster, Mo. He was discharged in 1972. He was employed by Pfizer Lime Co. in Adams and by GE in Pittsfield before entering the service. Following his enlistment, he operated a mail route in Sedalia, Mo. He later relocated to Mobile, Ala., where he was sales manager of Chuck Winner Dodge Auto Sales & Service. He returned to Adams in 1988 and was employed on the sales staff of Bedard Brothers Motor Co. in Cheshire. He also worked in the meat department at Price Chopper in Pittsfield. Mr. Chapin was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas-Notre Dame Parish of Adams. He was also with the managerial staff of the Adams Babe Ruth League for several years, and was a member of the Berkshire Chapter of the Flat Earth Society and the Adams Mountain Club. A fly fisherman, he was a master at tying flies and also produced fly-fishing poles. He leaves his wife, the former Sharon E. Fucich, whom he married Aug. 7, 1977; two sons, Christopher D. Chapin and Shawn M. Chapin, both of Adams; a stepson, James R. Rupert of Adams; two daughters, Christol Chapin and Kelly Chapin, both of Sedalia, Mo.; two brothers; two sisters, and a granddaughter. A prayer service in the Roman Catholic Tradition will be offered by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Notre Dame-St. Thomas Parish. The service will be observed Saturday at 11 in the MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7. Following cremation, inurnment will take place in Bellevue Cemetery. .
