Sara T. Goldman, 97

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Sara Toby Goldman, 97, of the Inn at Robbins Brook in Acton, formerly of North Adams, died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at Emerson Hospital in Concord. Born in Toronto on Sept. 5, 1913, daughter of Benjamin and Molly Skerkovitz Silverman, she attended schools in Toronto. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Goldman, known as "Toby," assisted her late husband, Harold Goldman, in the operation of the former Treet Cleaners in North Adams for many years. She was a member of Congregation Beth Israel and enjoyed reading and playing bridge. Her husband, whom she married on Jan. 6, 1935, died on April 22, 1993. She leaves two daughters, Celia Karp of Hartford, Conn., and Bernice Goldman of Acton; a son, Gerald Goldman of Rhinebeck, N.Y.; two brothers, Sol Silverman of Toronto and Louis Silverman of North Adams; seven grandchildren, a great-grandchild and nieces and nephews. Her son Leonard Goldman is deceased as are three brothers and two sisters. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Goldman will be held on Monday, Aug. 22, at 1:30 p.m. at Beth Israel Cemetery in Clarksburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
