Bernadette Marcil

Bernadette M. Marcil, 76, of 5 Hayer St. died yesterday morning at Prospect Nursing Home in North Bennington, Vt., after a lengthy illness. She had resided there for three years. Born in Adams on April 2, 1925, daughter of Nickolaus M. and Eva Klein Lenhardt, she was a 1943 graduate of the former Adams High School. She was employed as an administrative clerk at Marcil Electric in Adams. She was also employed by Grande Oil of Williamstown and O'Connell Oil of North Adams. She retired in 1980. A communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, Mrs. Marcil was a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Sancta Regina, and the parish's Rosary Sodality. She was a quilter, with a specialty in afghans. Her husband, Hilaire I. Marcil, whom she married June 22, 1946, in St. Thomas' Church, died Feb. 14, 1993. She leaves a son, Robert A. Marcil of Adams; a daughter, Patricia Hennesey of Rochester, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret Koehler of Adams; and three grandchildren. The funeral for be Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 9:15 from MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Liberty St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in Notre Dame des Sept Doleurs Church at 10. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 4 to 7. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association, Western Mass. chapter, 11 Campus Lane, Easthampton, MA 01207, or through the funeral home.
