Marie V. Lamarre, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Marie Virginia Lamarre, 84, of 71 Hawthorne Ave. died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on May 13, 1927, daughter of Silvio J. Lamarre Sr. and Christine Abuisi Lamarre, she graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1943 and also graduated from the former North Adams Normal School, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, in 1947. Miss Lamarre began her teaching career in the North Adams Public Schools in 1948. She was a third-grade teacher at Brayton and Greylock elementary schools for many years until her retirement. She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and was a dedicated volunteer at its annual bazaar. She enjoyed cooking, bowling and sports. She especially enjoyed trips to the coast of Maine and to Atlantic City. She leaves her brother, Silvio J. Lamarre Jr., with whom she made her home; nieces and nephews including Michelle Lawlor and her husband, Dennis, of East Killingly, Conn., Michael Lamarre of Salem, N.H., and David Lamarre and his wife, Jane Marie, Christopher Lamarre and his wife, Tina, Peter Lamarre and his wife, Laurie, Mary Beth Parisien and her husband, James, and Stefan Lamarre and his wife, Laura, all of North Adams; and five grandnieces and a grandnephew. Her brother Edward Lamarre and his wife, Claire, are both deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Miss Lamarre will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Adams Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home.
