Francis W. Wimpenny Sr., 90
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Francis William Wimpenny Sr., 90, of 107 North St. died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Williamstown Commons.
Born in North Adams on Oct. 25, 1921, son of William and Elizabeth Arrighi Wimpenny, he graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1939.
Mr. Wimpenny worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 45 years, until his retirement in 1984.
He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife, the former Doris Antenucci, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1941, in the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, died on Oct. 14, 2000.
He leaves two sons, Francis W. Wimpenny Jr. of Sebring, Fla., and Brian M. Wimpenny of North Adams; a brother, Russell Wimpenny of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Wendy Richards, Bernadette Tatro, Jill Gigliotti, Francis LaBombard III, Steven Wimpenny and Tricia Wimpenny; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Tatro, Christina Tatro and Katie Gigliotti, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceased by his daughter, Sandra LaBombard, on Sept. 4, 2004, and his two sisters Marjorie Martin and Dorothy Libardi.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Wimpenny will be celebrated Friday morning, Dec. 30, at 9 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be at a later date in Southview Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of the funeral home, Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. The family would like to thank the staff of Williamstown Commons for their kind, caring attention to Mr. Wimpenny.
