Elizabeth I. Pasierbiak, 94

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elizabeth "Betty" Irene Pasierbiak, 94, of 787 East Main St. died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at the home of her son in North Adams. Born in North Adams on June 16, 1917, a daughter of Harry and Anna Windrow Davine, she attended North Adams Schools and was a graduate of North Adams State Teachers College in 1939. Mrs. Pasierbiak began her career in 1939 in one-room schoolhouses with eight grades first in Heath and, in 1946, in the town of Florida. She began teaching in Clarksburg at the former Briggsville Grammar School in 1950, transferring to the new Clarksburg Elementary School two years later. She became employed by the North Adams Public Schools in 1963 and taught at Sullivan School until her retirement in 1983. She was a lifetime and active communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church, and its successor All Saints Episcopal Church, where she an active member of the St. John's Guild and Sisterhood Tea Committee. She was a member of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Alumni Association and founding member of Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. She enjoyed being a member of the Cheshire Stompers and Harpin Turners round and square dance groups. She enjoyed painting and arts and crafts after retirement and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her husband, Andrew L. Pasierbiak, a former North Adams police sergeant, whom she married in August 1940 died Dec. 2, 1967. Besides her son, John A. "Jack" Pasierbiak and his wife, Judy, with whom she had recently resided, she leaves a brother, Harry Davine of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, Tina Lamond and her husband, John, of Rockport, John Pasierbiak Jr. and his wife, Sandy, of Gloucester, Scott and Brian Pasierbiak, both of Lynnfield; four great-grandchildren, Johnny, Sammy and Natalie Lamond and Gabrielle Pasierbiak Hardiman; a great-greatgrandson, Lucas Hardiman; her former daughter-in-law, Michelle Godbout Pasierbiak Sipala and her husband, Michael, of Lynnfield, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Pasierbiak of North Adams. Her son Bruce Pasierbiak died in March 1980. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Pasierbiak will take place Saturday, Dec. 31, at 10:30 from All Saints Episcopal Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 9 to 10 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for All Saints Episcopal Church through the funeral home.
