Richard W. Mauke

Richard W. Mauke, 81, of Union Point Road, Webster, a former resident of Stockbridge, died Friday in Hubbard Regional Hospital in Webster after an illness. Born in Dudley on June 5, 1920, son of Richard A. and Matilda Piehler Mauke, he lived in Stockbridge and spent most of his life in Webster and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1937. A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as an aviation expert. He was employed as an area representative for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 34 years in Winston-Salem, N.C., retiring in 1975. He was past master of the Masonic Lodge in Stockbridge and a charter member of the Kiwanis Club in Stockbridge and West Stockbridge. He was a member of the VFW in Great Barrington. His wife, the former Rosina Morris, died in 1978. He leaves a daughter, Rosina H. "Carol" Mauke of Webster; a sister, Louise Briggs of Dayton Beach, Fla., and two grandsons. A son, Richard H. Mauke, of Stockbridge, died in 1998.
