Stuart R. Davis, 72

MONROE, Mass. — Stuart Ray Davis, 72, of 33 Davis Road died Monday, March 26, 2012, at his home. Born in Readsboro, Vt., on June 26, 1939, son of Walter and Rachael Tower Davis, he attended Readsboro schools and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams with the class of 1958. Mr. Davis had been employed at McCann Technical School in North Adams for the past 22 years. Before that, he worked at the former Deerfield Specialty Papers. He was a member of Readsboro Baptist Church and devoted to his family. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310 in North Adams and the National Rifle Association, and loved nature and being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and music. He also attended country fairs, especially the Tunbridge (Vt.) World's Fair. He leaves a son, Lonnie A. Davis of Adams; four daughters, Janice L. Davis of Belchertown, Lorie A. Birch and her husband, Edward, of the town of Florida, and Gloria J. Richard and her husband, Jerry, and Carla Davis-Little and her husband, Josh, all of Monroe; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his former wife, Thelma J. Gomez of Monroe, nieces, nephews and his faithful dog, Echo. His sisters Vera Shippee, Marjorie Smith and Janice Davis predeceased him. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Davis will be Friday, March 30, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Monroe Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, March 29, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stuart Davis Scholarship at McCann Technical School or the Readsboro Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
