John P. Mulcahy, 89

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Patrick Mulcahy, 89, of 98 Summer St. died Thursday, March 29, 2012, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Jan. 16, 1923, son of Charles T. and Elizabeth A. King Mulcahy, he attended North Adams schools and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School with the class of 1941. An Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served in Africa, Sicily and Italy. Mr. Mulcahy was employed as the veterans' agent for the city of North Adams for many years until his retirement. He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a life member and past commander of the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and a member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW. He enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the Taconic Golf Club. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox baseball team. He leaves his brother, Donald J. Mulcahy of Las Vegas, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, including Sharon Wondoloski and her husband, Christopher, and their children Christopher R. Wondoloski and Jennifer L. Peterson. One brother and one sister are deceased: Charles R. Mulcahy and Elizabeth Mulcahy. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Mulcahy will be celebrated Wednesday, April 4, at 11 a.m. from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute or Disabled American Veterans in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
