Carl R. Heflin

Carl R. Heflin, 68, of 40 William Parkway died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after suffering a heart attack at home. Born in Texarkana, Texas, on July 22, 1933, son of Alfred L. Heflin Sr. and Sabie Kidd Heflin, he was a 1950 graduate of Texarkana High School and a 1956 graduate of East Texas State College, where he received a degree in polymer chemistry. He moved to Lee in October. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950 to 1952, and was discharged with the rank of corporal. He had recently attended a 50th Marine reunion in Texarkana. Mr. Heflin was employed by Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma from 1956 to 1967, when he moved to Pittsfield to work for GE. In 1970, he moved to Norco, Calif., where he was the West Coast regional manager for Sheffield Plastics of Sheffield. He moved to Farmington, Conn., in 1995, to work for Rowland Technologies of Wallingford, Conn. Mr. Heflin was a member of American Legion Post 328 in Norco. He and his wife, the former Sheila MacDonald, were married Nov. 28, 1969. Besides his wife, he leaves a son,Jeffrey B. Netto of Conway, Ark.; two daughters, Carla Hearrington and Betsy Netto, both of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Alfred L. Heflin Jr. of Texarkana, and a granddaughter. A graveside service for Carl R. Heflin will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 11 at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. Robert Rennie of First Baptist Church in Pittsfield. Friends wishing may make donations to the Lee Ambulance Squad in care of KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 3 Main St., Lee. A brother, Kenneth Heflin, died in 1998.
