Mary Agnes Gaffey

Mary Agnes Gaffey, 95, formerly of Ashland Street Apartments, died yesterday morning at North Adams Commons, where she had resided since Sept. 24, 1993. Born in Manchester, N.H., on April 20, 1906, daughter of Henry J. and Caroline Davis Garvey, she moved to North Adams at a young age and was a graduate of the former St. Joseph's High School. Mrs. Gaffey was employed by the former Arnold Print Works and its successor, Adams Print Works, in Adams for more than 25 years. She retired in 1974. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of its Rosary Society. Her husband, Patrick John Gaffey, whom she married April 20, 1927, died March 5, 1979. She leaves her caregiver and cousin, Mary Pellerin of North Adams. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis' Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
