Jacqueline May Gay, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Jacqueline May Gay, 76, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Born in Adams on Nov. 21, 1935, daughter of Wilson and Celia Bostwick Mahar, she attended the former Adams High School. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Gay worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for about eight years. She was a member of First Congregational Church. She enjoyed bingo, skating and dancing. Her husband, Victor Brigham Gay, whom she married on May 10, 1958, died on March 24, 2008. She leaves a son, George B. Gay of North Adams; her twin sister, Patricia Jones of North Adams; two brothers, Roger Mahar of Cheshire and Donal Mahar of Texas; five grandchildren, Eric Taft, Adam Taft, Kehanna Taft, Jennifer Christman and her husband, Jeremy, and Jason Gay; six great-grandchildren, Jordan, Autumn, Kaylee, Dakota, Quinton and Briana; her sister-in-law, Karen Gilbert Slabonski of Las Vegas; her former daughter-in-law, Kim Taft, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Douglas E. Gay in 1999, and seven brothers and two sisters, Sybil Brooks DeGray, Phyllis Howcroft, and Francis, Clifford, Kenneth, Ralph, Thomas, Wilson, and Emerson Mahar. FUNERAL NOTICE — A graveside service for Mrs. Gay will be held Friday, Nov. 2, at 11 a.m. in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
