Clifford Vadakin Sr.

Clifford A. Vadakin Sr., 72, of 5 Dewey St. died Sept. 3 at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home in Great Barrington. Born in Hutchins, N.Y., on June 26, 1929, he was the son of John A. and Jessie A. Wilcox Vadakin. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and held the rank of staff sergeant. Mr. Vadakin was employed as a truck driver for both Watco Trucking in North Canaan, Conn., and for Collingwood Trucking in Sheffield. He previously had worked as a dairy farmer on the Cooper Hill Farm. In his younger years, he attended the Spencertown Methodist Church in Austerlitz, N.Y. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8348 of Sheffield. He leaves two sons, John A. Vadakin of Ashley Falls and Daniel J. Vadakin of North Canaan, Conn., and seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Clifford E. Vadakin Jr. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Austerlitz Cemetery, Route 22, Austerlitz, N.Y. There are no calling hours. NEWKIRK-PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 118 Main St., North Canaan, Conn., is directing arrangements.
