Sunda J. Baker, 76

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Sunda Joan Baker, 76, of 150 Ashland St., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Springfield. Born in North Adams on Sept. 11, 1936, daughter of Thomas C. and Delima Gelinas Martin, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1956. Mrs. Baker was employed at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown for 23 years until her retirement. She had earlier worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe, Woolworth's and Sprague Electric companies. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was an active member of the North Adams Historical Society and also a member of the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed travel and bowling. She leaves two sisters, Claire Gamari and her husband, Henry, of North Adams and Sheila Starr and her husband, Mitchell, of Boston; three brothers, Thomas A. Martin and his wife, Cynthia, of Clarksburg, Gary Martin and his wife, Linda, of North Adams and retired Air Force Col. Glenn Martin of Chesapeake Bay, Va., and nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Baker will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will be in the spring in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday morning from 9 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Adams Historical Society in care of the funeral home.
