Wildcats Blow by Blue Devils after Halftime

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury boys' soccer team started off well enough against Lee on Friday. It was the Blue Devils' finish, however, which cost the Blue Devils in a 5-1 home loss to the Wildcats.

After senior captain Ryan Ouimet scored to give Drury (0-4-1) a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute of the game, it was all Lee (3-3-1) after that. The Wildcats received unassisted goals by Jake LePrevost and Nick Pow to take the lead at halftime and later salted the game away thanks to John Graziano's second-half hat trick.

"We played great in the first half," Blue Devils head coach Greg Caproni said. "It was a very fast-paced game. Jacob Groves had many breakaway opportunities to score, but [Lee goalie Heamon] Williams was unreal.  He gave Jacob no room for error with his shots.

"In the second half, we just didn't play up to the first-half standard, and Lee controlled the play. A couple of bad and non calls directly led to the fourth and fifth goals. But that is no excuse, we shouldn't have even been in that position."

Graziano scored his first goal of the game 12 minutes into the second half. He found the back of the net again in the 65th minute before a handball in the box allowed him to score another goal off of a penalty kick three minutes later. Williams finished with six saves on the day, while junior Joe Liporace made 14 stops in net for Drury.

The Devils next host Pittsfield at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
