BENNINGTON, Vt. -- A quick start by the Mount Anthony boys' soccer team left Drury in too big of a hole to climb out of in the Blue Devils' season-opening game on Tuesday afternoon. The Patriots found the back of the net three times in the first half alone on their way to a 4-1 win at home.

Nicholas Harris had a goal and an assist for Mount Anthony, which opened up a 4-0 lead on a tally by Marcus Leflamme just three minutes into the second half. The Blue Devils answered back four minutes later, however, receiving their only goal of the game when junior forward Jacob Groves knocked in the rebound off a shot by senior Jake Tietgens.

After a sluggish first half, Greg Caproni's team came back strong in the final 40 minutes, outshooting the hosts 5-2 after the break. Sophomore goalie Joseph Liporace stopped seven shots on the day for Drury.

The Devils next play St. Joe's in their home opener at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
