Candilore Game-Winner Lifts Taconic on Road

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Gabriel Candilore scored with three seconds left to give the Taconic boys soccer team a 2-1 win at Mount Anthony Union on Saturday.

 

Defender Thomas Lopez sent a cross in to set up Candilore for the game-winner and his second goal of the game.

 

Candilore started the scoring with a goal assisted by Seffatulla Mangal, and the Thunder was up, 1-0 at half-time.

 

The Patriots came back to tie it at the start of the second half, setting the stage for the dramatic ending.

 

“The defense played hard, and everybody on the bench played,” Taconic coach Jason Keller said. “We were without some key players and our goalie played injured and saved shots with one hand. Will Barber, the goalie, really stepped up for his teammates. He showed his toughness and dedication to Taconic.”

 

Taconic (4-3-1) goes to Lenox on Wednesday.
