Monument Mountain's Powell, Pittsfield's Matthews Named Berkshire County MVPs

Pittsfield's Carter Matthews and Monument Mountain's Noel Powell were named co-MVPs of the Berkshire County soccer league in a vote of the league's coaches.
 
The coaches met Tuesday and named the all-league teams for 2018.
 
Mount Greylock led the way with five players named first-team all-league: goalkeeper David Falk, backs Will Reynolds and Josef Soza-Foias, middie Luke Swann and forward Finn Welch.
 
Three of Matthews' Pittsfield teammates were named to the first team: middies Hedy Abderrahim and Sam Higuera and back Patrick Silva.
 
Joining Powell on the first team are back Will Casarsa and forward Patrick Young.
 
Rounding out the first unit are Lenox midfieler Keveen Delgao, Mount Everett back Nikos Cassivant and Wahconah forward Kevin Huban.
 
The second team all-league team included: Mount Everett's David Bautista-Cruz, Anthony Lupiani and Patrick Silk; Monument's Jackson Blanchard and Nate Lacombe; Wahconah's Kyle Brogan; Lenox's Andre Collins, Tristan Collins and JT Novitsky; Drury's Max Daugherty and Reece Racette; Taconic's Quentin Gittens; Hoosac Valley's Paolo Kareh; Pittsfield's Christian Mendez and Luke Peplowski; and Greylock's Emi Soza-Foias.
