Pope Francis Boys Blank Pittsfield

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Carlos Vindas scored a goal in each half Tuesday to lead the Pope Francis boys soccer team to a 2-0 win over PIttsfield on Opening Day for the Generals.

 

“We struggled to gain any momentum in the first half, our first touches weren't good enough, our passes weren't good enough and we failed to create much,” Pittsfield coach Ryan Wanek said. “I do think that was more due to how good Pope Francis is, they had a very good high press on us and their midfielders worked their socks off.”

 

Reese Cook-Dubin made nine saves in goal for the Generals (0-1).

 

Pittsfield is home on Thursday afternoon against Monument Mountain at Kirvin Park.
