One of this week’s iBerkshires.com/Bedard Bros. Athletes of the Week has helped his team to its best start in years. The other has her team picking up where it left off last season.

Ben Harrington has been on the varsity soccer team at Drury High School since he was a seventh-grader in 2021 and has been battling with the Blue Devils through some lean years in the win-loss column.

This fall, the Drury senior has a team-high six goals for a Drury team that is 4-1.

Last week, he scored twice in a 4-0 win over Mount Everett, had a goal and two assists in a 9-0 win over Libertas Charter and finished on Friday with a brace in a 2-0 win over Pioneer Valley.

The Blue Devils have won four games in a row and are off to their best start since 2017, when Drury opened 8-2 on the way to a berth in the finals of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 tournament – the “old” Western Mass tournament, where the winner advanced to the state semi-finals.

Drury, which won just three games all last season, continues this season on Monday at home against Gateway Regional.

The Lenox volleyball team won 21 games last fall, including the Western Massachusetts Class C Championship Game.

That Millionaires team graduated seven seniors from a program that went to three straight regional finals.

This season, Lenox is 5-0 and has not lost a set behind senior Sara Isby, who leads the team in kills, digs and aces.

Isby has averaged more than eight kills per match and was credited with a double-double – 10 kills, 17 aces – in a win over Pittsfield on Thursday.

Lenox faces perhaps its biggest challenge of the year to date on Wednesday when it goes on the road to take on Wahconah, which has won four straight to improve to 4-2 this fall.

The iBerkshires.com Athlete of the Week is sponsored by Bedard Bros.
