DALTON, Mass. – Danielle Hagmaier scored two first-half goals, and the Wahconah girls soccer team earned a 2-1 victory over Pittsfield on Thursday.

“The first goal was scored off a free kick outside the 18 on a foul drawn by Ella Scalise,” Wahconah coach Maggie Rivers said. “Hagmaier took her time and placed the shot in the upper right corner. Ten minutes later, Hagmaier, off a distribution from Ella Scalise, again struck the ball outside the 18 placing it in the upper left corner this time.”

Pittsfield’s Kara Wong got the Generals within a goal when she scored off a rebound a couple of minutes later.

But Wahconah shut down the visitors from there.

“Our girls played focused and hard the whole game with Danielle Hagmaier, Gianna Heilbroun, Rafi Canino, and Chloe Difazio really owning the middle with possession, 50/50 balls, and balls in the air,” Rivers said. “Ella Scalise really had the game of her life and Danielle really changed the pace of the game by icing those two shots. She has been working hard in practice shooting and placing the ball on net and it totally paid off today.”

Paetyn Tatro made four saves to earn the win in goal.

Harolyn Castillo made eight saves for Pittsfield.

The Generals (5-3-2) host Mount Greylock on Monday.

Wahconah (8-1) are at West Springfield on Saturday afternoon.
