Lenox Knocks Off Mounties, Sets Up Clash with Wahconah
LENOX, Mass. – Evelyn Julieano Wednesday put down 10 kills to lead the Lenox volleyball team to a four-set win over Mount Greylock.
“Evelyn played very strategically and continuously pushed the ball into open spots on the court, which was crucial,” Millionaires coach Emma Nealon said.
Evelyn’s sister, Gracem passed out 24 assists while serving three aces and contributing a pair of kills in the 25-12, 21-25, 25-18, 25-22 win.
Sara Isby finished with seven kills, seven aces and four digs, while libero Emily Barenski led the way with 15 digs.
Leanna Mascino chipped in with four kills and a pair of aces, including one to clinch the match.
After getting doubled up in the first set, Mount Greylock rallied to edge Lenox in the second set by four points.
But the Millionaires came back to take the next two and knock off the three-time defending Western Mass Champs, avenging a 3-2 loss to the Mounties in last year’s regional final.
Olivia Perez led the Mounties with 15 kills to go with four blocks and six assists. Kimora Melanson, Elise States and Jillian DeChaine each had four kills for Mount Greylock.
The Mounties (2-1) host Pittsfield on Thursday.
Lenox (5-0) travels Thursday to face Wahconah (4-0) in an early season battle of unbeatens.
