LENOX, Mass. –  Emily Barenski served 10 aces Wednesday to lead the Lenox volleyball team to a three-set win over Pittsfield.

Barenski, a libero, also pulled up seven digs to lead the Millionaires (2-0) to a 25-8, 25-22, 25-12 win.

Twice, Barenski delivered big service runs in the win.

In the second set, she served seven points in a row to give her team a commanding 10-point lead before Pittsfield made a charge.

In the third set, she took the ball with Lenox up, 11-10, and served five points in a row to give the Millionaires a working margin they never relinquished.

“I think our serves this year are incredible compared to last year,” Lenox coach Anna Nealon said. “I think we missed two serves the entire game for all the girls. So they’ve really, really improved, and we’re very proud of them.”

Evelyn Julieano served six aces, and Grace Julieano had four in the win.

Claire O’Brien and Sara Isby led Lenox with six and five kills, respectively, and Grace Julieano had four assists to go with five digs.

“Grace, our setter, is a little hurt, so we had to overcompensate for that,” Nealon said. “But I think, even with her being hurt, we did a really good job. Everybody stepped up. They took care of what needed to be taken care of.”

Pittsfield coach Katara Mullett, likewise, was happy with how her team played, especially after working out some kinks early in the Generals’ first match of the season.

“I don’t think the first set was that rough,” Mullett said. “I think our energy stayed really consistent throughout the match. … The first set was mostly unforced errors on our part. I think I counted 15 in the first set. So, you know, silly mistakes on our part, just trying to get every point ourselves.

“But, other than that, I think we played very well as a team throughout the match, and we’re excited to see how we are moving forward.”

Isabelle Nkrumah led Pittsfield with six kills. Gionnah Levardi and Nkrumah each recorded four digs, and Isabella Baltazar notched 11 assists.

Pittsfield (0-1) hosts Wahconah on Friday.

Lenox is at Taconic on Friday.
