Mount Greylock Boys, Girls Finish First at County Meet

LEE, Mass. -- Patrick Holland and Luke Irwin Saturday placed second and third, respectively, to lead the Mount Greylock boys cross country team to victory at the Berkshire County Individual Meet at Lee High School.

 

Lenox's Ben Harwood crossed the finish line first in the boys race, clocking a time of 16 minutes, 53.5 seconds, but Mount Greylock put four runners in the top 10 and edged the Millionaires, 31-40, in team points.

 

In the girls race, Mount Greylock was dominant, beating runner-up Lenox by 33 points behind a first-place finish by Brenna Lopez (19:31.2).

 

Nora Schoeny placed second for Lenox, 36 seconds behind Lopez, but the Mounties had the next four finishers to run away with the team title.

 

The event marked the end of the Berkshire County League season, which saw both Mount Greylock teams go unbeaten in dual meets.

 

The post-season continues on Nov. 7 with the Western Massachusetts Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield.
