Zahn Leads Pittsfield Boys to Narrow Win over Taconic

PITTSFIELD, Mass. – Cohen Zahn placed first overall and led the Pittsfield boys cross country team to a one-point win over Taconic in a four-team meet at Berkshire Community College on Wednesday.

Zahn ran a time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds, a minute and 10 seconds faster than runner-up Lake Kittler of Wahcoah.

But Kittler and Brayden Ryan finished 2-3 overall to help Wahconah earn a victory in their dual meet against Pittsfield.

Wahconah, Pittsfield and Taconic each earned a win over Mount Everett.

The Taconic boys were led by Givonnie Goldsberry, who placed sixth overall. The Eagles got the fourth- and fifth-place finishes from J. Hunter Jeffries and Nicolas Bruno, respectively.

In the girls race, Pittsfield dominated as Margaret Hall paced the field with a time of 22:45.

She was chased across the finish line by teammates Mia Hiltpold, Chloe Potash, Caylee Wong and Jaelynn Sherman in second through fifth places.

The only non-PHS girls in the top 12 were Wahconah’s Megan Tucker and Eve Dowling, who finished sixth and eighth, respectively.

Only Pittsfield and Wahconah had enough girls to post a team score in the meet.

Running as an individual, Taconic’s Elise Maturevich placed 13th, and four Thunder runners cracked the top 20.
