PITTSFIELD, Mass. — All three Berkshire County wrestlers who started Saturday in the semifinals of the MIAA Division 3 State Championships, ended Saturday in the same place: fourth.

Mount Greylock’s Alex Griffis and Devin Pelletier and Taconic’s Isiah Williams each lost in the final match of the consolation bracket on Saturday afternoon at Taconic High school.

Griffis had the closest battle, an overtime match at 195 pounds against Melrose’s Antonio Difronzo, which Difronzo won, 3-2, avenging Friday’s quarterfinal loss to Griffis and claiming third place in the commonwealth.

Griffis’ teammate, Devin Pelletier, had a tough day physically, retiring from his semifinal in the main draw with a knee injury. He came back to earn a pin in the consolation semifinals, only to withdraw from the third-place match due to the same injury, ceding the third-place spot on the podium to Wayland’s Jakob Warner.

Williams represented the hosts in the consolation finals, which he gained by virtue of an 11-9 win over Cohasset’s Sean Mavilia in the consy semis. In the third-place match, Smithfield Tech’s Koby Oimette pinned Williams at the 4 minute, 12 second mark.

Two other Taconic wrestlers were victorious in their final matches of the weekend.

In the fifth-place match at 132 pounds, Zabion Powell pinned Hanover’s Danny Ryan at 4:43 to finish the meet with a record of 4-2.

At 285, Dalton Peck hung on for a 6-4 decision to finish fifth.

Mount Greylock’s Cayman Mead finished his day on a win as well, taking seventh place at 152 pounds by pinning Triton’s Lewi L’heureux at 2:57.

The top six finishers automatically qualify for next week’s all-state tournament at Reading Memorial High School. The seventh place finishers will be alternates for that event.

The Division 3 contingent at all-states will include two wrestlers from Monument Mountain.

At 145, Nate Cormier pinned Franklin Tech’s Nate Crocker at 4:51 to claim fifth place in the state. At 195, Bart Christiano earned a pin at the end of the first period to claim fifth from Dedham’s Matt Dunn.
