WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Jacob Hillman carded a one-over 37 Wednesday to lead the Mount Greylock golf team to a 175-202 win over Hoosac Valley on the front nine at Waubeeka Golf Links.

“He continued with his solid play and ball striking, making six pars, two bogeys and one birdie,” Mount Greylock coach Erik Tiele said of Hillman’s day. “His birdie came on the par-5 eighth hole.”

Kai Nafziger backed up Hillman with a 44. Max Easton and Max Wied also posted birdies on their way to scoring for the Mounties.

“We're close,” Tiele said. “For some reason we are having a tough time getting out of the gate on the starting holes and then the guys settle down and play their game. We keep throwing one bad hole in the round and that's what is inflating the scores.”

Zach Mongeon and Jorge Bond led Hoosac Valley with rounds of 46 apiece.

Mount Greylock (5-1) hosts Taconic on Thursday. The Hurricanes (0-4) are home against Monument Mountain on Friday.

Mount Greylock (175): Jacob Hillman 37; Will Svrluga 47; Kai Nafziger 44; Max Easton 47; Max Wied 47; Roderic Rustay 52; Tanner Taylor 63; Fisher Crowe 61.
