Mount Greylock Girls Win on Cape Cod

FALMOUTH, Mass. – Mount Greylock sophomore Brenna Lopez placed fourth Saturday to lead the Mounties to a first-place finish at the Twilight Invitational.
 
Lopez covered the 5,000-meter course at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in 18 minutes, 40.2 seconds.
 
The winner, Hamilton-Wenham’s Grace Rich, clocked a time of 18:25.3.
 
Mount Greylock’s girls won the small-school division at the event with 77 points, edging Greater Lowell Tech with 90 points.
 
In the boys small school division, Mount Greylock placed second with 156 points, behind team winner Hopedale with 94.
 
Patrick Holland led the Mounties, placing 17th in 16:15.4. Hopedale’s Quinn Cook finished in 15:15.8.
 
Other Mount Greylock boys competing included Luke Irwin (26th, 16:26.7), Finnegan Voisin (35th, 16:47.2), Andrew Holland (46th, 17:09.6), Ryder Voisin (65th, 17:25.5), Benjamin Mandel ( 68th, 17:26.8) and Max States (153rd, 18:51.2).
 
Both Mount Greylock and Monument Mountain competed in the small school division girls race.
 
Competing for the Mounties were Lopez, Josephine Bay (19th, 19:29.6), Cornelia Swabey (23rd, 19:36.3), Ani KoaMaya (24th, 19:38.1), Riley Mae Dickinson (29th, 19:51.5), Elly Wilkinson (47th, 20:45.1) and Lucy Gregg (69th, 21:20.3).
 
The Monument Mountain squad, which placed 18th, included Nina Martin (82nd, 21:37.4), Maeve Murray (85th, 21:42.4), Kealy DeVergillo (87th, 21:45.0), Nina Villano (164th, 23:51.7) and Haven Tolbert (176th, 24:23.5).
