Pittsfield, Taconic Compete at D5 State Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Taconic’s Romeo Yankey and Pittsfield’s Emmanuel Anwomeah placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash at Friday’s Division 5 State Championship meet at Bridgewater State University.

 

Cathedral’s Ta’Qaire Bell won the event in 22.16 seconds.

 

Yankey clocked a time of 22.55, and Anwomeah was right behind him in 22.77.

 

PHS Friday also got a podium finish from Cohen Zahn in the 2-mile run. He placed fifth in 9:47.45 in a race won by Whitinsville Christian’s Benjamin Barron (9:42.63).

 

Pittsfield had five other student-athletes in action on the first day of the state meet on Friday.

 

Koby Asare placed ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 2.5 inches, and Aldy Badolo was 12th in the discus (114-2).

 

Ryan Ngoran ran in the prelims of the 200, and Alex Smith and Reese Cook-Dubin each competed in the 400 hurdles.

 

Taconic’s Yankey was joined by teammates Quinn Ives and Shelby Tart, each in the 2-mile run.

 

The D6 State Championship concludes on Sunday afternoon.
