Monument's Culbreth Wins State Title

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Monument Mountain’s Siddy Culbreth Thursday took a gold medal in the triple jump at the Division 6 State Championship meet at Westfield State.

Culbreth posted a mark of 47 feet, 10.5 inches to finish more than 3 feet ahead of the field on the first day of the two-day meet.

Culbreth’s Spartan teammate Everett Pacheco placed third in the 800-meter run to help Monument Mountain into fifth place heading into the meet’s second and final day on Saturday.

For the Mount Greylock boys, William Apotsos finished fourth in the 400 hurdles, and Mason Canata qualified for the final in the 200 dash, where he placed seventh.

Mount Greylocks’ girls ended Day 1 of the meet in fourth place as they look to defend their state title.

Rowan Apotsos and Coralea Lash-St. John placed second and third, respectively, in the 400 hurdles to give the Mounties points.

Teresa Moresi and Syndey Raymond placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault.

For the Monument Mountain girls, Amelia Desilets was fourth in the 2-mile run, and Caroline Becker was fifth in the triple jump.

Lenox’s girls posted an eighth-place finish from Nora Schoeny in the 2-mile.
