LEE, Mass. – Jameson Bayliss threw four strong innings, and the Mount Greylock baseball team played solid defense to earn a 12-2 win over Lee on Wednesday.

First-year hurler Bayliss struck out five and allowed one hit in four innings in his second varsity start.

Alex Axt threw three scoreless innings of relief to close out the game.

Dylan Harrison went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI to lead a seven-hit Mount Greylock attack.

But after committing seven errors the last time out, the big difference for Mount Greylock on Wednesday was in the field.

“We had some great defensive plays in the first inning by left fielder Anthony Welch, who tracked down two balls down the left field line which looked like doubles off the bat,” Mounties coach Rick Paris said.

“Our left side of the field really played well tonight. Third baseman Thomas Martin made some great plays in the hole, and shortstop Derek Paris also made a couple big plays up the middle, none bigger than the one in the fourth with Lee threatening to score more. He made a diving stop to get the out at second.”

Lee got both their runs in that fourth inning on RBIs from Ben Kelly and Hayden Siok.

Lee (1-4) hosts Lenox on Thursday.

Mount Greylock (6-2) is at Ware on Thursday.
