Taconic Baseball Falls in Pitchers Duel

FAIRHAVEN, Mass. – Ryan Pires struck out 13, walked one and scattered four hits Tuesday to lead the sixth-ranked Fairhaven baseball team to a 1-0 win over Taconic in the Division 3 State Tournament.
 
Jackson Williams drove in a run in the bottom of the first inning, and Pires made that lead hold up for six innings to advance to the Round of 16.
 
Evan Roccabruna struck out four and allowed just one unearned run in a complete-game effort on the mound for Taconic.
 
Roccabruna also had a hit for the Thunder, along with Ed Ferris, Gavin O’Donnell and Gavin Maffuccio.
 
Taconic finishes the season with a record of 9-12.
