Pittsfield Blanks Bombers on Road
WESTFIELD, Mass. – David Wildgoose and Cam Hillard each went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles Monday as the Pittsfield baseball team earned a 10-0, five-inning win over Westfield.
Simon Mele earned the win on the mound with four innings of work, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out two. Jack Bellefontaine finished up with a hitless inning of relief.
“Solid outing for Mele to lead us against a tough Westfield team on the road,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “He set the tone, and clutch hitting by Wildgoose, Hillard, [Ryan] Stannard and a big triple by [Matt] Egan kept a two-out rally rolling in the second inning. Mele did the rest on the mound.”
Pittsfield scored all 10 of its runs in that second inning.
The Generals (2-0) are at Longmeadow on Wednesday.
