Codey Powers Pittsfield Past Wahconah

DALTON, Mass. – Jason Codey went 4-for-5 with a double Tuesday to lead the Pittsfield baseball team to an 8-2 win over Wahconah.
 
Cam Hillard went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, and Ryan Stannard drove in three in a 12-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
Matt Egan and Jason Fields teamed up for the win on the mound.
 
Egan struck out seven in six innings of work.
 
“Good road wind for us today,” Pittsfield coach Drew Pearce said. “Egan battled hard without his best stuff and gave us a solid six innings of work on the mound.”
 
James Rabuse hit a two-run homer to give Wahconah a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
 
Scott Hoffmann and Jacob Welch combined to strike out five for Wahconan (9-3), which goes to Southwick on Thursday.
 
Pittsfield (11-2), the third-ranked team in the commonwealth in Division 3, hosts Pope Francis on Friday at Clapp Park.
