DALTON, Mass. -- Jordan Budaj set up seven goals, and Emmy Cote scored five as the Wahconah girls lacrosse team defeated Oakmont, 14-9, on Thursday in the first round of the Central/Western Massachusetts Division 2 tournament.

“Tonight was a total team effort,” Wahconah coach Kathy Budaj said. “We had many goals that were assisted which is nice to see. We started off a little slow on connecting our passes.

“It was nice to see the girls working hard defending when we turned the ball over.”

McKenna McIlquham scored four goals, and Budaj and Jordan Peck scored a pair apiece for fourth-seeded Wahconah (14-5), which got five saves from Katie Bachli.

Wahconah hosts No. 5 Nashoba Valley Tech (17-4) on Friday in the sectional quarter-finals.
