IPSWICH, Mass. -- Mount Greylock's Sarah Polumbo scored two of her five goals in the last three minutes to help the Mounties cut into a three-goal deficit, but the Ipswich girls lacrosse team hung on for a 9-8 win Sunday in the Division 4 State Tournament Quarter-Finals.

Ipswich led, 5-3, at half-time, but Mount Greylock came back to tie it with goals from Polumbo and Ainsley Abel to start the second half.

Halle Greenleaf scored one of her four goals to regain the lead for Ipswich at 6-5, and it led, 9-6, after Carolyn Bailey scored with 3:36 left to play.

Polumbo scored 25 seconds later and again in the 48th minute, but that was as close as Mount Greylock could come.

Abel finished with two goals and an assist. Tanley Drake scored a goal, and Lexi Politis set up a goal for the Mounties.

Christy Rech made seven saves in the loss.

Mount Greylock finishes the season with a record of 20-3, including the program's second straight Western Massachusetts title.

No. Ipswich (18-1) moves on to face Manchester Esssex on Wednesday in the state semi-finals.
