NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The streaking McCann Tech softball team saw its three-game win streak come to a close on Monday, losing 4-1 at home to Bi-County West League rival Southwick.

Rams' starter Jordyn Willey held the Hornets (4-13) to just one run for the second time this year, earning a season sweep over McCann by allowing five hits and one walk while striking out two batters. Alyssa Kelleher sparked Southwick's offense by collecting two hits and driving in a pair of runs, while Lindsey Wilcox and Morgan Harriman also chipped in with two hits apiece.

"It was a well-played game but, unfortunately, we gave up a few more walks than they did," Hornets head coach Robin Finnegan said. "Neither team was an offensive powerhouse, but they took advantage of the walks they got in the game."

Senior Erika Ziemba surrendered five free passes on the day, allowing three earned runs on seven hits to take the loss for McCann. The Hornets did break up Willey's shutout attempt in the seventh inning, however, when senior Maria Denault drove in sophomore Jessica Sunn to give the hosts their only run of the game.

The Hornets return to action on Wednesday with a home game against Sabis at 4 p.m.
