SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Alanza Quinones went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and threw out a runner trying to steal second base to highlight an error-free performance for the McCann Tech softball team in a 14-2 win over Sabis on Thursday.

Lexi Andrews went 2-for-5 with a stolen base, and McCann pitcher Haley Malloy helped her own cause by driving in three runs.

In the circle, Malloy struck out six and walked two in a game shortened to five innings by the "mercy" rule.

"We played great defense and stayed patient at the plate today," McCann coach Kate Galli said. "It was great to have baserunners and make things happen,

"Everyone is jelling well, working  and communicating together. Everyone has a job to do to help the team."

McCann (11-8) hosts Mount Everett on Friday at DiSanti Field.
