SHEFFIELD -- Alicia Bazonski struck out 11 in no-hitting Hoosac Valley on Thursday afternoon.

"While most of our Hoosac hitters put the ball in play, we just couldn't advance on base because the [Mount Everett] defense did their job getting outs at first," Hoosac coach Morgan Shafer said.

Hoosac did get a runner on base courtesy of an error.

Mount Everett took advantage of four Hoosac errors to spoil a five-strikeout, no-walk performance by senior Caroline Tomkowicz, who did not allow an earned run.

"While defensively we have some things to tighten up, for not having put our feet into the dirt of an infield and mostly spending our last three weeks in the gym, we made some good plays that show our potential moving forward in our season," Shafer said.

Thursday's game was moved from Cheshire to South County because of conditions on Hoosac's field.

Hoosac hosts Lee on Monday.
