SHEFFIELD, Mass. — The Pioneer Valley softball team Wednesday scored five runs in the top of the sixth en route to a 6-2 win over Mount Everett.

Gwendolyn Carpenter and Marion Devoti drove in runs for the Eagles, who got seven strikeouts from Faith Angell. Angell helped her cause with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

"Pioneer played really well today," Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. "We had a bad inning that ended up costing us, but we will get back at it tomorrow with Monument coming to our place."

Monument Mountain visits Mount Everett (9-5) looking to avenge a loss to the Eagles in Great Barrington back on April 23.
