County Umpires Honor Softball Stars

DALTON, Mass. -- Mother Nature did not cooperate with the Berkshire County High School Softball All-Star Game on Thursday night.
A fierce thunderstorm at game time forced the postponement of the event at Pine Grove Park.
But the county's umpires were able to pass out some post-season awards before the weather went south.
Recent Drury High School graduate Brooke Bishop was awarded the Joe Harrison Award for Sportsmanship.
The umpires' other sportsmanship honor, named for Don Little, was a split decision: Lee's Brianna Lynch and Monument Mountain's Alex Tenney each were recognized.
The annual event was to feature a game between teams coached by Hoosac Valley's Mike Ameen and Pittsfield's Brian MacDonald.
Players invited to play in the game included:
Taconic: Cheyann Goddard, Ella Stodden, Abby Soto
Mount Greylock: Malia Koffi, A.J. Pelkey, Kelsey MacHaffie
Drury: Brooke Bishop, Maddie Saunders, Marley Brothers, Olivia Perry.
Monument Mountain: Alex Tenney, Sammy Ullrich, Lexi Carpenter.
Hoosac Valley: Gracelyn Wright, Izzy Tart, Hannah Lord, Ella Bissaillon.
Pittsfield: Amanda Pou, Mia Arpante, Bella MacDonald, Natalie Arnhold.
Wahconah: Dani Barry, Elena Iovieno, Sammie Kaley.
McCann Tech: Svea Lawson, Shaley Lawson, Paige Meyette.
Lee: Brianna Lynch, Karalynn Hopkins, Taryn Bannon.
Lenox: Evelyn Julieano, Grace Julieano, Amaya Alger.
