Wahconah Softball Falls at Hampshire
WESTHAMPTON, Mass. – Ryanne Dubay struck out six in a complete-game effort in the circle Saturday to lead the Hampshire softball team to a 7-1 win over Wahconah in the quarter-finals of the Division 4 State Tournament.
Dubay gave up just three hits and one walk in the win, which sends second-seeded Hampshire into this week’s Final Four to take on Tyngsborough.
Mariah Pacinella led Hampshire’s offense, going 3-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in.
Wahconah got a run in the top of the seventh, when Alliah DiPietro hit a single to left field to drive in Julia McComish and send Mariah Barnes to third base with two out.
But Dubay got the final out on a swinging third strike to end the game.
Barnes and Sammie Kaley had the other two hits for Wahconah.
Marlee Arnhold and McComish split time in the circle.
Wahconah ends its season with a record of 18-5.
