Wahconah Rallies to Hand Taconic Its First Loss
DALTON, Mass. – Elena Iovieno went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Wednesday to highlight Wahconah’s 14-10 win over Taconic.
Wahconah rallied for two runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to pull away late in a back-and-forth game.
“Very proud of the way the team responded today,” Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. “In addition to having a great day at the plate we made some great plays in the field to secure the win.”
In the fifth, Taylar Hickey (3-for-4) doubled in a run and scored on Louis Carkuff’s RBI groundout to give Wahconah a 12-10 lead. In the sixth, Dani Barry (3-for-4) hit a sacrifice fly, and Iovieno hit an RBI single to round out the scoring.
In all, Wahconah (5-5) collected 19 hits as it snapped a four-game losing streak.
Casey Wilson and Hickey split time in the circle. Hickey earned the win with 5-? innings of work.
Ella Stodden led Taconic’s offense, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a double and driving in three runs.
Taconic (6-1) looks to get back in the win column on Friday when it goes to Greenfield.
Wahconah hosts Mount Greylock on Friday night.
