Carlson Leads Monument Mountain Boys Past Drury

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. -- Kahlil Carlson scored 27 points Monday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a season-opening, 68-56 win over Drury.
 
"We got off to a great defensive start in the first quarter and were up, 16-4," Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. "We played great defense and created some turnovers that led to nice offense. My guys were extremely active in the first quarter."
 
Carlson scored eight points in that quarter, which also saw Caden Gidarakos go 3-for-4 at the line en route to a five-point quarter and 15-point night.
 
Kyle Wellenkamp added 10 points in the win.
 
Drury (1-1) got 24 points from Louis Guillotte. Ben Moulton added 18, and Tim Brazeau scored 10.
 
The Blue Devils go to Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
 
Monument Mountain (1-0) is at Hoosac Valley on Friday.
