Calvert Leads Wahconah to 10th Win

CHESHIRE, Mass. – Cooper Calvert scored 28 points Friday to lead the Wahconah boys basketball team to a 65-50 win over Hoosac Valley.
 
Calvert hit five of Wahconah’s 10 3-pointers in the win.
 
Sam McLaughlin scored 12 points, and Jake DuCharme added 11.
 
Calvert scored 12 points and went 5-for-5 at the foul line in the fourth quarter, when Wahconah outscored the Hurricanes, 15-8, to put the game away.
 
Adan Wicks scored 18 points to lead Hoosac Valley, which got 14 from Terrell Johnson and 13 from Blake Mazzeo.
 
The Hurricanes (4-6) host Mount Everett on Monday.
 
Wahconah (10-1) clinched a berth in the Division 4 State Tournament with the win. It will look to improve on its state ranking on Tuesday when it hosts Lenox.
