NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Another big game from Hayden Bird led the Drury boys basketball team to the 52-45 win over Monument Mountain on Thursday night.

Bird scored 18 points to lead all scorers as the Blue Devils improved to 7-0 this winter.

Drury held on against another tough opponent late in the fourth quarter to keep their undefeated record alive.

“We are finding our identity, we can stretch it out with [Cristian] Montoya, who has been knocking down some shots, and Bird’s mid-range game when he gets it going," Drury coach Jack Racette said. “We have a good mix with [Alex] Heck and Reece [Racette] getting to the basket."

Montoya played a big role, coming off the bench and scoring 11 points, including nine from long range. Connor Meehan also had eight points to help Drury.

For Monument Mountain (4-3), Zach Tinker came off the bench to score a team-high 10. Kevin Troiano had nine.

This was Monument Mountain's second loss to Drury this year, as they lost in the final of the Gene Wein Tournament earlier in the year, 60-53.

“When you see teams, you start to see tendencies, and that's what we are going to get now," Jack Racette said. "We are in Berkshire County, teams are going to know we we do and we will know what they do The scores are going to start coming down a bit."

It was tight battle all game long, but the difference was late in the third quarter when Drury went on a 7-0 run to take a 44-38 lead into the fourth quarter.

Drury will continue their home stand with a home game Monday against Pittsfield High. Monument Mountain will go on the road and face Mount Greylock Monday night.
