PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Tank Roberson and Saint Joseph's claimed an 83-63 victory over cross-town rival Taconic.

Roberson contributed 26 points and eight assists as the Crusaders (2-0) used the third quarter to pull away from the Braves (0-3).

Leading by 11 at halftime, St. Joe's nearly doubled its advantage in the third, taking a 63-42 lead into the final frame. The Braves were limited to nine points in the third quarter, though Crusader head coach Paul Brindle was not pleased with his team's defensive effort throughout the game.

"I thought offensively we played well and ran the floor very well. Defensively we did a poor job rebounding and, therefore, Taconic continued to play hard and stayed in the game," Brindle said.

Michael McMahon finished with a double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds) and Joseph Wiggins (9 points, 9 rebounds) just missed one for St. Joe's.

Shaq Ardrey (18 points) and Patrick Gregory (15 points) led Taconic in scoring.
