Pittsfield Seeks Applicants for Boys Basketball Position

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Pittsfield High School is seeking applicants for its head varsity basketball coach for the 2017-18 season
 
The coach is  responsible for providing leadership to the basketball program and providing instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes. 
 
The varsity basketball coach is expected to counsel student-athletes in their academic and athletic development – aspects that include teaching players about fundamental basketball skills, injury prevention, mental approach, strength\conditioning, goal setting, and self-evaluation.
 
Excellent communications skills, ability to work effectively with students and staff, and a philosophy consistent with the mission and goals of the school, are expected. Candidates should have the ability to convey messages of sportsmanship, team rapport, work ethic, and responsibility to one’s team. 
 
Additional responsibilities of the position include conducting well-organized practices, coordinating coaching staff, overseeing booster club initiatives, managing equipment inventory, and completing pre-season administrative tasks in a timely manner.  
 
Previous coaching and\or playing experience is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
 
The high school basketball season runs from late November through early March. The application process closes on Monday, May 1, 2017.
