Frontier Hands Drury Girls First Loss
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Addie Harrington scored 16 points Monday to lead the Frontier girls basketball team to a 43-34 win over Drury.
Harrington scored seven points in the fourth quarter, when the Redhawks outscored the Blue Devils, 12-5, to pull away for the win.
The Blue Devils got off to a slow start offensively, falling behind, 12-4, after one quarter.
“I thought we settled in after the first quarter and showed our ability to fight back,” Drury coach Ian Downey said. “In the second quarter, we were the aggressor, and it showed. We were able to get them on their heels, which opened up some shots for us. Free-throw shooting was probably the difference in the game, which is unusual since we normally shoot them well at home.”
The Blue Devils made just four of 14 tries from the foul line.
“I always say that losing isn’t the issue as long as you learn from it, and I learned a lot of good things about my team tonight,” Downey said. “We’ve played four games in eight days, so this break will be good for us to get our legs back and work on some things.”
Drury (3-1) is off until next Monday when it hosts Taconic.
